The Performing Arts industry has been badly affected by the Covid-19 Pandemic. With social distancing measures likely to continue for some time, the industry is dealing with unprecedented obstacles, threatening its survival.
We performers of every kind around the world look forward to the day when we can continue our vocation. I, for one, long for the day when I can get back to the stage! My last performance before the Pandemic put everything to a halt was singing the title role in a new production of ‘The Marriage of Figaro’ on opening night at English National Opera. The memory of this special occasion sustains my hopes for a better post-pandemic future.
Let us hope that this hiatus doesn’t last very much longer and that authorities and benefactors around the world commit to supporting the arts, and thus society at large.
We don’t know how and we don’t know when. But we artists will be back!
